Quick start – Check for One UI 9 now

  1. Open Quick Settings – swipe down from the top‑right corner.

  2. Tap the Settings gear icon.

  3. Scroll to the bottom and select Software update.

  4. Tap Check for updates (or Download and install → Check for updates).

  5. If One UI 9 appears, follow the on‑screen prompts to download and install.

Prerequisites

  • Supported device – One UI 9 is pre‑installed on Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, Z Flip8, and S26 FE. Other models may receive it later. Source

  • Battery – at least 50 % charge (preferably plugged in).

  • Connection – stable Wi‑Fi (avoid mobile data unless you have an unlimited plan).

  • Backup – create a verified backup before proceeding. Use Samsung Smart Switch on a PC/Mac or the built‑in Samsung Cloud backup. This step is essential because a major OS upgrade can reset settings or, in rare cases, erase data if the installation fails.

Step‑by‑step guide

1. Verify backup

  1. Open Smart Switch on your computer and connect the phone via USB, or open Settings > Accounts and backup > Samsung Cloud on the device.

  2. Choose Back up now and wait for completion. Confirm the backup by checking the latest timestamp.

2. Check for the OTA update

  1. Open Settings → Software update → Check for updates.

  2. If an update titled One UI 9 (or a version number like 9.0) appears, tap Download.

  3. When the download finishes, tap Install. The phone will reboot automatically and may take longer than a typical reboot.

3. Alternative: Use the "Download and install" path

  1. Settings → Software update → Download and install.

  2. Tap Check for updates.

  3. Follow the same download‑and‑install flow as above.

4. Alternative: Update via Smart Switch (PC/Mac)

  1. Install Smart Switch from Samsung’s website if you haven’t already.

  2. Connect your device and launch Smart Switch.

  3. If a newer firmware is available, a Update button will appear. Click it and let Smart Switch handle the download and installation.

Post‑install checks

  • After reboot, go to Settings > About phone > Software information to confirm the version reads One UI 9.

  • Open the User manual or Tips and help section (Settings → User manual / Tips and help) and tap What’s new in One UI 9 to explore new features.
